About Us
The Assembly Room is a family run business set up in June 2011 by husband and wife Neal and Sarah and Sarah’s sister Caroline. Sarah and Neal have been in the hospitality industry for almost 20 years, working in several key establishments including locally The Clivedon. The Assembly Room is the partnerships first venture and our opportunity to fulfil a lifelong dream.
As locals, on seeing the former Crown venue we immediately fell in love with the setting. We spent alot of time in restoring the venue and we still have many more exciting projects ahead. The name The Assembly Room was chosen by Sarah and Neal’s daughter Abigail as this was the buildings original use. It was built by former Copper King Thomas Williams in 1807 and the building was originally used for political meetings. Our logo also incorporates the bird 'chough' used as the Williams family crest . It is also embossed on our musician’s gallery and the weather vane on the top of the building.
